The Scoop

This blog is a little bit of everything, all rolled into one. I write and post about whatever strikes a chord. Sometimes my posts are long, sometimes they’re not. But they’re always something that resonates–at least with me. And it’s my prayer that my posts always come from a place of overflow (that’s my prayer in all things, actually…)–where God is first pouring into me so that I might pour into others.

The name of my blog and the tagline come from Frederick Buechner:

“Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments and life itself is GRACE.”

Brock and I have been married since June 2009, and every day I find myself amazed at how he loves me. We make a great team, and I’m so grateful that God brought us together! We started out living in Fort Smith, Arkansas, thinking we’d be on our way to Philadelphia shortly after our wedding for a job for me. The move didn’t happen (though a consulting job with the company did), so we set up shop in AR for about 7 months before Brock got a (second) promotion with his company and we moved to Lexington, Kentucky. In a little over 2 years, we’ve lived in 2 states, 3 houses and 3 different zip codes, but we are thrilled to be here and have managed to find a church that we love and a great area to live in. I’m so eager to watch and see all that God has for us here in Lexington, and in our lives in general. God is good, and continues to show His faithfulness in our lives and in our marriage. We are enjoying this season of life.

And in case you get any crazy ideas that our life must be wonderful all the time, let me dispel that now. This is my blog—-an online journal of our lives and my thoughts. This is not reality. This house gets dirty and disorganized; things pile up often, Ollie sometimes runs through the house soaking wet and finds his way into our bathroom trash cans. This blog is edited; it’s just a snapshot of our life–even when I tell the truth and put things “out there” for all to read… We are an ordinary family plagued with the same stresses and messes that you are. But we trust God daily to restore us and the messes we’ve made with the gifts He’s given us. We live by His grace only… thankfully.
